Liam dragged his feet down the hallway, the weight of the failed calculus exam pressing down on him like a physical burden. He’d barely slept in days, cramming formulas into a brain that felt like scrambled eggs. His vision swam, and the world seemed to pulse around him. He considered skipping his next class, letting the world fade away for a moment.

He found a secluded bench outside, the crisp autumn air doing little to revitalize him. He scrubbed his face with his hands, the rough texture of his skin a stark contrast to the soft leather of his backpack, which sat limp at his side. He just wanted the feeling to stop.
